Blog 1: Q&A with SETG'S CEO Derek Jones

Updated: Mar 4, 2020

Q: How did Sports Evolution Talent Group come about?

A: Well I always knew i had something in store after I was done play collegiate ball and I'm close friends with a few professional athletes. Being around sports was all I ever done, so we like to help brands expand with our media outlets. Also, I see a lot of players who look for assistance with living, money, and different aspects most young guys have trouble with when coming into the type of money and fame they've never experienced or most of the time there the first people in their family. Which is were we step in with our rookie transition program. We also provide sports agents where most of our major athletes plan to join such as NBA rookie sensations Zion Williamson and Ja Morant.

Q: Other than the NBA, are their other professional sports that you're apart of?

A: We are apart of 4 major leagues such as NBA, NFL, MLB and NASCAR. With us being apart of these sports it helps us reach to the college players and those whom are coming from overseas such as Luka Doncic for the Dallas Mavericks. Also, with being at all sporting events we are able to connect with players on all levels and into building relationships.

Q: What separates your company from the rest?

A: Success! We let our work speak for itself and we've been the #1 Public Relations Firm since 2007. Now that times have changed in 13 years we've been able to adapt and keep up with all the new trends. At SETG, we let our clients tell us what they want, after all it is about the athletes. Everyday we have fun here, all of my staff have been former collegiate or pro players, so they I surrounded myself around people who has the same mindset and can push our company higher than imagined. Like I've mentioned before we connect with all major sports, so for the NFL Combine our team went to Indianapolis and did all the designs for the website and phone apps and next we'll be joining the NFL for the upcoming draft in late April 2020. Then, soon enough we get with the NBA to cover the NBA Playoffs and Finals. Few weeks later is the NBA Draft which our biggest turnout where everything must be perfect. From possible clients to multi-billion dollar opportunities.
